Abstract

This paper aims to document and analyze the results of community service with the theme "Localization of SDGs: The Role of Educational Institutions in Achieving the 2030 Target." This activity promotes Goal 4: Quality Education, held at SMP Negeri 44 Palembang City. Furthermore, this initiative focuses on one of the key aspects of Goal 4, namely increasing students' interest in reading. The methods employed in implementing this activity include socialization, training, and efforts to motivate students to cultivate a reading culture. The results of this activity indicate that students from SMP Negeri 44 Palembang City recognize the importance of integrating reading into their daily lives. By motivating them, it is hoped that students will begin to minimize distractions that hinder reading activities and view reading as an essential part of their identity as students. This program directly contributes to achieving the SDG targets, particularly in three important indicators: supporting access to quality education, achieving literacy, and promoting sustainable education. The challenges faced by the team implementing this activity included limited time for socialization and the fact that some students still perceived the reading culture as unimportant and uninteresting. This article emphasizes that educational institutions hold a strategic position in ensuring the achievement of Goal 4 in the SDGs. One of the main aspects is ensuring that educational institutions remain committed to enhancing literacy awareness and fostering students' interest in reading.
