Abstract

Wedang Jahe (Ginger tea) is an original culinary product of Indonesia consumsed by the community.  It is also as herbal alternative medication. Furthemore, ginger tea has economic potential to be realized as a rural business. The aim of this community services is to improve the knowledge and skill of rural community in the making of ginger tea and creating the new business in rural. This activity was carried out by mentoring of ginger tea making through presentation, discussion and QnA session, demo practice and evaluation. The instrument for evaluation was questionare. It consisted of 3 indicators which were knowledge, utility and motivation. This activity was located in Sakatiga Village, Indralaya Subdistrict, Ogan Ilir Regency attended by 30 people who were mostly wowen and housewives. It was in line with the expected target which was the improvement of economic contribution, woman empowerment and leisure time utilization. This activity showed that more than 60% of the rural community in Sakatiga Village, Indralaya Subdistrict, Ogan Ilir Regency has understood and perceived in term of knowledge, utility, motivation and intention as well.
